Learning Tips

Tips: As a figure skater Balance is everything. Posture and Alignment is crucial.

  • Proper Head Posture: Where you hold your head is very important. To correct forward head posture make sure your earlobes are in line with the collar bone. Your head weighs between 8-10 lbs, so where it is placed is extremely important.
  • Proper Knee Alignment: Make sure when bending your knee it is in line with the 2nd toe on your foot. Proper knee alignment can assure you of being on the correct edge. All you have to do is lean in your circle.
  • Pelvis: Where you place your pelvis when you skate is most important. If you tilt it back behind you, your knees lock and you will again not gain proper balance.

Remember Balance = Pelvis, Head Posture and Knee Alignment
